Blood Flow

Blood Flow

Proper blood flow is a key element to overall human health, and issues such as blood clots, increased blood stickiness, and reduced blood flow can lead to numerous health issues, along with an increased risk of heart illnesses and heart attack.

CASSIS POLYPHENOLS BEAT BLUEBERRY POLYPHENOLS TO INCREASE BLOOD FLOW

A recently conducted study examined the ability of New Zealand Cassis polyphenols to increase blood flow throughout the body, specifically in the face region. For the test, 33 health women were given a Cassis polyphenol beverage and results were tested 30, 60, and 90 minutes after consumption.

The impressive results of this study revealed that Cassis polyphenols increase blood flow when compared not only to the placebo group in the above test section, but also to those consuming blueberry polyphenols in the below test section. These results have led researchers to believe that Cassis polyphenols can effectively increase the flow of blood throughout the body.

DECREASE BLOOD STICKINESS TO PREVENT BUILD-UP IN ARTERIES

It is thought that Cassis anthocyanins, polyphenols, and polysaccharides can increase blood flow due to their blood thinning properties. Several studies have documented that these flavonoid components can reduce the stickiness of blood, and ultimately decreasing the risk of blood clots. With less stickiness in the blood, it is able to move freely through the vessels, which could decrease the risk of build-up, and ultimately reduce the risk of blood clots, heart attack, cardiovascular disease, and high cholesterol.

INCREASED OPTIC PAPILLA BLOOD FLOW WITH ANTHOCYANINS

In addition to reducing the blood stickiness, Cassis anthocyanins also have the ability to relax arteries, which improves blood flow and helps to balance good and bad cholesterol levels. A study completed by Ikuyo Oguro, et. al. focused on 30 patients with normal tension glaucoma, and their results concluded that Cassis anthocyanins were able to dramatically increase the blood flow through the eyes and body.
